The PRCA Next Generation PR World Cup is the MENA qualifier competition for the ICCO Next Generation PR World Cup 2021.

As well as participating in the international competition, the winning team will have the opportunity to have their idea implemented with the global charity partner and present at the ICCO Global Summit 2022 with travel and accommodation. The MENA winning team will also receive a trophy.

How the MENA Competition Works

A brief will be set by the PRCA’s Charity Partner (to be revealed at a later date) who will act as the client, and participating teams will be given 48 hours to create a campaign.

Timeline

The cost to enter is 550 AED +vat per (PRCA member) team and 750 AED +vat per (non-member) team. The competition is open to all within the industry. The MENA competition will take place over 48 hours during working days: Monday, 6th September 2021, 10:00 GST – Wednesday, 8th September 2021, 10:00 GST. The brief is provided by a PRCA Charity In-house member and will be circulated by email at 10:00 GST on Monday 6th September.

Completed campaigns will need to be emailed back to the PRCA by 10:00 on Wednesday 8th September GST – in the form of a video or 10 pages PowerPoint presentation, a 1-page summary slide and a written submission of no more than 450 words delivered as a Word document. Campaigns will then be judged by the MENA Jury.

The shortlist will be announced on Wednesday, 22nd September 2021.

The shortlisted campaigns will then send a pre-recorded 5-minute pitch jury, explaining the PR campaign on Sunday, 26th September 2021.
The winning team will be notified by Wednesday, 29th September 2021.

The World Cup MENA Submission requirements

  • Video file submitted (3 minutes maximum) OR PowerPoint presentation (10-page maximum)
  • The written submission (max 450 words)

Suggested breakdown: 

– Describe the creative idea (150 words) Potential for industry impact

– Describe the strategy (150 words) Target audience, target media, PR planning, approach

– Describe the execution (150 words) Implementation of PR activities, timeline, scale

MENA Competition Rules

Entry criteria

  • Teams of two people
  • Under the age of 35
  • Agency, in-house, freelance (no restriction).

Only two participants from the same company are required to form a team, and companies are welcome to enter multiple teams. Each participant must be aged 35 years or younger (born after 12th October 1986)

World Competition

 

This will be a global competition, Regional winners will then compete against one another for the global title.

  • One team submitted per PR association.
  • Finalists will be given a detailed brief, set by a global NGO.
  • Teams must send a premise for the creative idea after 24 hours. This includes 150 words on the creative idea.
  • Teams will then have one week to create a 3-minute video explaining their creative campaign to deliver the brief including strategy, approach, and execution. See ‘submission’ below.

The World Cup Submission

  • The written submission (max 450 words):

Final Competition, 13th – 20th October 2021

  • One team submitted per country.
  • Finalists will be given a detailed brief, set by a global NGO.
  • Teams must send a deck of no more than 10 slides after 48 hours. This includes 250 words on the creative idea.
  • Teams have one week to create a 3-minute video explaining their creative campaign to deliver the brief including strategy, approach, and execution. See ‘submission’ below.

Competition Format

  • All finalists will be given a brief by an NGO and the competition will run as described, with a brief distributed on 13th October and video submitted by the 20th Judging panel will choose the best 4 videos to compete in a semi-final.
  • The top 4 videos will then be put through to an online public vote, which will run on ICCO and the NGO website. The top 2 will be put through to a final. (The other two will receive bronze medals).
  • The 2 finalists will then face a virtual Q&A with the jury members as well as the NGO (2nd November). They will then choose the winner, which will be announced on day 2 of the ICCO Summit on 18th

The World Cup Submission

  • Video file submitted (3 minutes maximum)
  • Deck of 10 slides
  • Describe the creative idea, the potential for industry impact, strategy, execution, and timescales.
  • Hit on the requirements of the detailed brief written by a globally recognised NGO.

Prize

  • Opportunity to present at ICCO Global Summit (2022) with travel and accommodation.
  • Winner’s trophy (runners up medals for 2nd and 3rd)
  • Opportunity to discuss the implementation of the idea with NGO.
  • All finalists join exclusive ‘Next Generation Group’ within ICCO, with the opportunity to contribute ideas and proposals to the ICCO Board of Management.
