Public Relations Account Manager – ARABIC COMMUNICATIONS FOCUS

 

ABU DHABI BASED ROLE

 

We are looking for a creative and well-connected Public Relations Account Manager with Arabic and English media relations expertise to strategies and implement communications campaigns to create positive public perception and obtain excellent media coverage to help our clients’ products and/or services stand out.

 

MISSION

As a PR Account Manager with Cosmopole, your mission is twofold:

  • Create and deliver PR plans and campaigns (these could be in the form of consumer or corporate communications campaigns, stakeholder outreach, lifestyle events, creative publicity stunts…)
  • Continually search for – and create – innovative media opportunities that generate coverage and publicity for our clients. You will nurture your existing relationships with editors, publishers, journalists, and publications groups, and you will constantly develop new contacts and relationships.

Public Relations Account Manager key responsibilities:

  • PR contracts fulfilment of deliverables (media coverage, creative campaigns, communications strategies, content creation…), ensuring you fully understand our client’s unique offerings, corporate identity, and objectives
  •  Act as the main / day to day point of contact for assigned clients – on a case-by-case basis (based on account team assignment)
  • Planning and implementing campaigns: you will be responsible for writing up the campaign plan, presenting it to clients, then coordinating the results whilst managing the client expectations
  •  Maximising media coverage opportunities – with a predominant focus on Arabic media relations:
  • You will nurture your existing relationships with editors, publishers, journalists, and publications groups, and constantly develop new contacts and relationships. This entails researching the UAE/GCC media landscape, constantly keeping abreast of the industry, all the way to having coffees with media, visiting their offices, hosting them during client events etc.
  • Create a strategic media “hit list” for each client and each new project (submit it to the Account management team)
  • Pitch, secure, coordinate, arrange media interviews and event attendance
  • Maximising social media influencers and corporate community influencer relationships that utilises your existing ‘little black book’ of contacts. You will be the “story pitch” anchor, ensuring our client’s news stories receive traction in both English and Arabic.
  • Regular monitoring and research into media activity, developments, and coverage (review media monitoring and clippings reports to see what coverage is missing and needs to be chased)
  • Intense teamwork
  • Galvanising the account team and getting the best/most out of them
  • Contribute to ideas and plans when the PR team (composed of the account management team, PR managers, copy editors) is planning press releases or announcements or publicity campaigns
  • Write content and press releases in English and Arabic and prepare information / briefing documents for the media, with the support of the Account Management team

 

Essential requirements:

  • A bachelor’s degree in either Journalism, Media or Mass Communications
  • Previous agency experience min 5 years (media relations focused role)
  • Excellent verbal and written presentation skills
  • Expert communications skills in English and Arabic (written and verbal)
  • Capability to plan campaigns at both a creative and strategic as well as executional levels
  • Ability to lead – and work closely with – a team
  • Strong project management skills (managing deadlines, people expectations, deliverables, priorities)
  • Excellent knowledge of the UAE and Middle East media landscape
  • Established contacts with UAE media (traditional and freelancers); an existing – and proven – network of media contacts is essential
  • Able to work in in Abu Dhabi on a full-time basis
  • Proven Abu Dhabi work (client) experience in the PR / comms field, previous experience with Abu Dhabi government will be an advantage
  • Strong interpersonal skills – must listen and observe team dynamics and build relationships with teammates (team player) and clients
  • Meticulous attention to detail (no typos, formatting errors in materials prepared)
  • Experience working with Microsoft Office tools – particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to learn and use daily Cosmopole tools (Trello, Dropbox, Harvest, Slack, Google Drive) and processes
  • A positive and curious outlook with a real hunger for learning
