Working with PR professionals who have committed to the PRCA’s Code of Conduct and professional standards is the only way to ensure your business’ reputation is in safe hands. We want our members’ commitment to professionalism and ethics to mean they are first in line when consultancies, individuals or freelancers are being hired.
Why does the PRCA’s Code of Conduct matter?
PRCA membership is a signal of professionalism to clients, colleagues and the public. Our Code of Conduct distinguishes our members from other PR practitioners. Watch the video below to learn more about why the Code matters.

Celebrating excellence with the CMS
The Communications Management Standard (CMS) is the hallmark of exellence in public relations. CMS accreditation is awarded exclusively to PR agencies and in-house teams that demonstrate a best practice approach to a series of core competencies.
First introduced in 1998 and updated several times since, it combines elements of ISO9001 and Investors in People with criteria specific to the PR and communications world. Consultancies holding this rigorous accreditation have demonstrated their commitment to professional standards across areas including leadership, business improvement, financial management, client satisfaction, people management and diversity.
While a growing number of PRCA members now hold CMS accreditation, a select group have qualified for the new CMS gold award, created in 2021 for organisations that have held the accreditation for more than five continuous years. Learn more.
