Social media is a growing factor in most marketing communications and PR activities. What used to be broadcasting – messages distributed via mass media, and then narrowcasting – the dissemination of information to localized and specialized audiences, eg via cable TV, is now evolving into microcasting, the delivery of highly targeted, customized and personalized content to very small audiences.

The definition, characteristics and roles of influencers is also changing in this process. In this workshop, we will look at some definitions, as well as processes to identify and profile influencers. Discussing some examples, we will also look at how to leverage the data and insights to build impact and influence through real social media influencers.
